The game controls can be customised in the Controls tab found in the pre-game Options window that appears when you first start the application.
Note:
Icon means Reset to defaults
Icon means undo last change
If you are using an Apple mouse please note that some of the listed controls are not available. This is because Apple mice do not have the ability to right and left click simultaneously which is a requirement of Batman Arkham Asylum. The game has alternative controls automatically setup for players with Apple mice. When playing the game you can view the standard & alternative controls in the Pause Menu under View Controls.
You can customise your controls in the Controls tab of the pre-game Options window. You can read this message again in the FAQs found in the About tab of the pre-game Options window.
If you are using a non-Apple Mouse, it may have a middle mouse button/scroll wheel. Batman Arkham Asylum allows you to use a middle mouse button click for the secondary gadget control.
By default, Mac OS X uses the middle mouse button click to trigger Exposé. This feature cannot be disabled within the game.
So if you wish to use middle click as a control in the game you will need to disable it in your System Preferences (accessed via the Apple menu).
By default Mac OS X uses the F Keys to control items such as volume and brightness. To use an F Key for a game command hold down the fn key, then press the F key. If you wish to have the F Keys automatically enabled, follow these steps:
Open System Preferences ( Menu → System Preferences).
Click on Keyboard or Keyboard and Mouse (depending on the version of the OS you are running).
Select the tab named Keyboard.
Ensure the checkbox labelled "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is checked.
The F Keys will now work without using the fn key.
You have the "Pause iTunes while playing Batman Arkham Asylum." option selected in the Batman Arkham Asylum pre-game Options window. To turn this feature off follow the steps below.
Double Click on the Batman Arkham Asylum Application while holding the Command key (⌘) down. A window called Batman Arkham Asylum Options will appear.
Select the tab named Extras.
Deselect the checkbox labelled "Pause iTunes while playing Batman Arkham Asylum".
Click Play to start playing Batman Arkham Asylum.
To turn this feature back on at a later date just re-select the checkbox and then press Play.
If you have more than one monitor connected to your Mac that is capable of supporting Batman Arkham Asylum, you can choose which monitor to use from the pre-game Options window. Select the Displays tab in order to choose a monitor.
Holding down the Command key (⌘) while starting the game will display the pre-game Options window if you have previously disabled it.
Yes. All Apple desktop machines shipped in the last few years come with a "Mighty Mouse" or "Magic Mouse" – these mice have a Right-Click function, however it is not enabled by default. To enable Right-Click, follow the steps outlined below.
Open System Preferences (Apple Menu → System Preferences).
Click on Keyboard and Mouse.
Click on Mouse and then click on Options….
You will see a diagram of your mouse with a series of drop-down menus. Select Secondary Button in the top right drop down menu.
The Mouse will now perform a Right-Click when you press the right hand side of the mouse.
There are several factors which have an impact on the speed at which Batman Arkham Asylum runs. Please see the section titled "Batman Arkham Asylum Performance Tips" in the ReadMe for a guide to increasing the speed at which the game runs on your computer.
Please read the technical support information in the ReadMe, this tells you what to check and if necessary how to contact Feral Technical Support with your issue.
No. Batman Arkham Asylum has been tested with the basic formatting option for Mac OS X which is HFS+. This system is not case-sensitive and identifies files by name without checking capitalisation. The capitalisation of filenames is not consistent throughout the game. While this may not prevent the game from running on case-sensitive file systems, unfortunately such differences may lead to crashes and other unpredictable behaviour on the case-sensitive formats available on the Macintosh.
If you have to run a case-sensitive setup and you experience problems with Batman Arkham Asylum please install the game on a standard formatted partition or read/write disk image. In most cases this will allow you to play the game on your machine.
To take screenshots while playing Batman Arkham Asylum you should use the following key command.
Command (⌘) + Shift (⇧) + P
When you press all three keys at once the game will take a single image of the on-screen contents and save it to your Desktop. The picture will be in JPEG format and will be called "Batman Arkham Asylum Picture 1". If you take more than one picture the numbering will increase by one per screenshot. The JPEG image contains metadata with a string in the following format.
GameName/Version Number (OS Version; CPU Speed; Installed RAM; Video RAM; Current Graphics Card)
For example in Batman Arkham Asylum the string might look a little like this:
Batman Arkham Asylum/1.0 (Mac OS 10.6.2; 2.8; 2.0 512; Radeon HD4870)
This information can easily be removed by saving the screenshot into a different format using Preview or another image editing tool. It should be noted that none of the metadata stored can be used to identify the user.
